Deconstructions - Main Task 2

The Conjuring follows the genre conventions we are going to use in our trailer. It helped inspire and create ideas for our own trailer.
The trailer starts off by showing a typical nuclear family just moving into their new home. Warm colours are used for the characters clothing showing their warm family vibe. This contrasts with the house around them which holds rather bland colours and some fading/cracks in the walls. This is almost foreshadowing, how the typical safe family has now entered a haunted home that is bleak and as faded as a ghost. A game of hide and seek is also used to show the family happy and having fun however this suddenly changes around 30 seconds into the trailer. The calm family appearance puts the audience in a lull of safety before the real danger begins.
Fade to black cuts are used between the different scenes in the trailer, a few in which have words across the screen to add suspense with little bits of information at a time. Some of the fade to black cuts look as if we are looking through a set of eyes and are blinking. This adds suspense as between each blink/cut there's time for something to happen or move, or get closer.
The Mise-en-scene used within the trailer effectively puts across the time in which this movie is set, the 70's.
