Evaluation Question 4

Evaluation Question 2

Evaluation Question 3

During our final showing of our trailer we handed our feedback forms to our fellow classmates. We made sure the questions on our form would give us as much information on how the person found it as possible. The feedback forms had questions about our trailer and ancillary tasks. I chose to do it this way as a form allows more room for opinions than an online survey. All feedback was anonymous so no one felt obliged to say nice things. All feedback was truthful which is what we needed. Here are the filled in forms:
Feedback Form 1

Feedback form 2

Feedback form 3

Feedback form 4

Feedback form 5

Feedback form 6

Feedback form 7

Overall we were very pleased with the feedback we received. A large majority of what was given back to use was very positive including all agreed our trailer fit our chosen genre perfectly. The few things we had some constructive criticism for was how believable our actors were, only a couple of those who filled out the forms complained about this which left five who hadn't. The majority didn't seem to mind the acting at all and so if changes could be made we wouldn't go right to acting straight away. A few complaints were also mentioned about our jump cuts, but again a large majority of those who filled out the forms didn't.
We also received positive feedback on how we used our editing and ambient sound.
For our ancillary tasks we again received high praises. Our poster was described as 'professional' and no improvements were suggested. The same goes for our magazine. The questions asked for what people liked and did not, the poster was said to be rather 'effective' and our magazine was described as 'not cluttered'.

Using SurveyMonkey we created a much shorter survey online. the survey consisted of 7 questions and we shared this survey with people between the ages of 17-21 which were are target audience. We wanted a range of people to fill in our survey to make it wasn't biased and we got truthful answers for our research.

In this survey many of those who filled it out weren't too fond of the acting, some suggesting to get better actors or to cut down the scenes in which there's interaction between actors. All those who filled out our survey were impressed by how effective our use of ambient sound was and many ranked it very high on what they thought was the most well done in our entire trailer.
The flow of the trailer was also highly praised.

Main Task - Horror Trailer

Ancillary Task - Finished Poster

To finally complete our poster we added bottom credits, which during our research we found is on a large majority of movie posters. These credits include our company name, actors/actresses and our crew. We then added a short snippet line under our official title which is a play on where clowns originally come from, the circus. We also added a release date in which we chose Halloween (31st October) as a few horror movies had released their films on the scariest day of the year. We finally added our logo to the poster along with a website for others to find out more about our movie. This is the final outcome for our poster.

Ancillary Task Magazine

Here is the magazine cover based on our trailer. We used a large main image of the clown as to show our trailer as the main focus piece in this issue. A large masthead covers the top saying "Slasher" which fits with the genre of horror our trailer is. Coverlines to the left also link in continuing the horror movie magazine theme. Additional information is in the bottom right corner and a skyline up top gives little sneak peaks as to what the reader will find inside the magazine. This cover also continues our colour theme of red and black.

Update 15-21

During these few weeks we have been working on our Ancillary tasks which we have now completed, perfecting our logo and finishing off editing our trailer.

Finished Logo

We found once we added our logo to our trailer that it stuck out like a saw thumb. To fix this we made the background black, to neaten the logo up even more and to make sure it fit the trailer better. This was our final outcome for our logo.

Rough Company Logo

Here is the rough version of our company logo. Our company is called "Bionic Bunny Studio Productions." Which is why our logo is that of a bunny. We also added a paint splatter as the nose as it represents blood which links to our company being involved in making horror movies. We kept our logo simple as we looked at a few other company logos and found that a large majority had simple logos. The logo was originally created in paint but then we opened it in Photoshop to neaten up the blood splatter and sharpen the logo outline. Next we will add our logo to our trailer!

Production Week 14

This week we have been focusing on our trailer by adding improvements that were suggested in our audience feedback. We have also added title scenes to our trailer along with some credits.

Production week 10-13

The past two week we've been focusing on filming the last scene we needed for our trailer and beginning a rough cut of our trailer. Our trailer is on it's way but not yet complete as we still have to properly edit the footage towards the end of the trailer and add ambient sound to create more depth.

Trailer Rough Cut and Feedback

Our first Rougb Cut followed a chronological order which after showing it to our audience for the first time, we found and decided is wasn't fitting into the normal conventions of a horror trailer and wasn't realistic. This was feedback that we had come up with within are group to work on.
We received a few bits of feedback from our audience, one being that our Chief of police scene ran far too long and they suggested we should cut it up into sections and spread it out throughout the trailer. Another suggested perhaps putting part of the Chief of Police scene at the end of the trailer to mix up the order a bit. Our group thoroughly agreed with this feedback, finding that it not only gave more depth and a better pace to our trailer but it would also foreshadow what our character's where going to go through. Some other feedback pointed out we had a few scenes that were boring and were focused on adding too much information for a trailer and that should be removed. Trailer's are suppose to withhold some information to pull in an audience so we agreed with this.
All the feedback we received was really useful and we will take it on board as we continue to work on our trailer to the highest quality we can.

Filming 3

This week we were finally able to film the last scene for our trailer, the scene in which the Chief of police comes forth to make a formal statement to the public. Sadly we could not film in our intended location, outside Oxclose Academy because of time restrictions so we filmed in one of the college's classrooms. We also had a change of actor because of availability problems. Now that this scene is filmed we can begin to edit it into our trailer.
We also managed, in this scene, to acquire some of the props that we did plan to use. such as microphones and some paper for the actor to look as if he was reading an official statement. Two photography students partook in are filming by using flashes on their cameras during the scene to make it look more professional and as if he were reading to an audience/press. We had wanted to create a constant colour scheme of red in our trailer and were going to have our actor wear a red tie but unfortunately that couldn't happen.

Movie Poster Update

Below you will find a JPEG image of the poster so far. For this poster I have used photoshop and an image we all decided on from our ancillary photoshoot. We decided to follow what many horror posters do which is display the antagonist as the forefront of this poster. The use of the mask adds a creepy affect along with some background to the left of the image which is dark adding a more sinister vibe to it.
I have added lower text below the title and tag line which lists the cast and crew members of our 'film'. Though the listed cast/crew may be edited. I've also added an opening date which we chose to be Halloween as many horror movies release then.
I've also added a fake website to the side of our release date. I have done this as many movies these days use cross media convergence meaning they have different ways of advertising their movie with different forms of media. One of ours being a website.
All that is left to add is our logo which is still being made.

Ancillary Photoshoot

Below are the images we took for our Poster for our trailer. These were taken in the studio but instead of using studio lighting for the first few, we used the light on a mobile phone. On the eleventh photo and onwards we did use a studio light, it was on 2.3 and quite far away from the model. We chose to focus on the mask/antagonist as other horror movie posters have followed the conventions of showing what is in the movie/trailer that will terrify the audience. It provides the audience with a sneak look at the main cause of chaos in the movie. We then tried midshots but found close ups far creepier.
